Two audio segments from the half-hour television documentary program, Hunger in the Valley of Plenty, will be broadcast on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition Wednesday, Dec. 18th and Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013.  The television program, a co-production between KQED and the Center for Investigative Reporting, was produced by Scott Anger and reported by Sasha Khokha and Natasha Del Toro.

The next television broadcast of the documentary will be on Fresno’s KVPT Channel 18 on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 7:00pm and again at 8pm.

NPR radio will broadcast the segment titled “Hungry in Raisin City”, which examines the struggle farmworkers face to feed their families amid the agricultural bounty of California’s Central Valley.

The network will also broadcast the segment titled “Every Apple Counts”, on Morning Edition on Thursday, Dec. 19th.  This segment looks at how community members in the town of Pixley are improving their access to healthy food by rescuing produce from farms and backyards, and learning how to cook with home-grown vegetables.  Both segments were reported by Sasha Khokha and aired on KQED radio’s The California Report in October.
